Seoul Food du Jour...

Tak kalbi (닭갈) is a favorite Chuncheon-area dish. It consists of stir-fried chicken in chili sauce with sliced cabbage, sweet potato, scallions, onions and these little round rice cakes called tteok (떡). Tteok is the Korean version of Japan's mochi (餅). It's eaten with rice or rolled in lettuce leaves and eaten like a burrito.

This meal for two, including salad, kimchi, soup and beverage, was enjoyed in Dongducheon's New Town district for 18,000 won ($12.85).

FYI: Chuncheon, Gangwon Province is the livestock industry mecca of Korea--hence the poultry, tak kalbi's main ingredient. Each year Chuncheon hosts a autumn festival dedicated to tak galbi. Good times!

Here's some in LA.
