Seoul Food du Jour...

Last night the Casey docs went out on the town and had a little "live squid" for dinner.

Sannakji (산오징어) or "live seafood" restaurants are easy to spot--the tanks of swimming octopus, squid, and shrimp out front are a dead giveaway. Order up what you want and your waiter will go fetch the evening's entrée, have it sliced, and then bring it to your table. Bon appétit!

We ate fried whole shrimp (shell, tail, legs, eyes too) and squid tentacles. The "just swimming a second ago" squid body was sliced julienne-style and dipped in an array of sauces. Various vegetables and lettuce make for a squid-vegetable-lettuce wrap. I prefer it straight up: Raw squid with soy sauce and wasabi or dipped in sweet chili sauce.

The squid and side dishes ran 20,000 won per fish (or about $16.80). This was a very tasty meal!
