KBR (Kellogg, Brown and Root) contracts to feed Coalition troops and civilians serving in theater. Most KBR employees are from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and lands beyond. They all are very pleasant but have no idea of "normal portion size." We are served tons of food! And the choices are outrageous...Tonight was Friday "Surf and Turf" night... all you can eat rib eye, shrimp, and crab. Then there's the sandwich bar, a hot grill-to-order bar, pasta, pizza, salad and potato bars plus three to four entrees per meal with side dishes and a spread of condiments. The beverage choices are equally diverse--milks, sodas, juices, sports and energy drinks, teas, coffees, etc. Finally there's the dessert bar... we eat like rock stars here, seriously!
Hot meal service comes 4 times a day... breakfast, lunch, dinner and at midnight. The DFAC is open for service 24/7. I do eat a very disciplined three meals a day but part of me says, "Hey, you're in a combat zone and this could be your last meal. So enjoy!"
