My Camp Cropper Digs...

I live to the south of Cropper's main entrance in Building #935... one of four identical, two-level concrete or "hard structure" buildings. Most of the hospital staff lodge in the same building. My short commute to work is about 45 seconds tops--hoofing it.

I share a second floor room with Captain Judi, another dentist. We live in apartment #50. It's the fifth window to the left, if you're counting from the outside.

Our floor, like all four buildings, has 20 apartments on each end with 2 sets of bathrooms and showers in the middle. So, 80 soldiers share 8 toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors and showers. Surprisingly, a 10:1 ratio works--never too crowded and having indoor plumbing rocks!

We adorned our humble abode with our own nameplate. While everyone else keeps the colors from the 14th CSH, Home of the Airborne Division - Fort Benning, we have the 502nd Dental Company and the 1st Medical Brigade out of Fort Hood, Texas. I think it says, "Be proud. Be all you can be!"

Here's my roomie, Dr. Judi... he's kicking back during lunch break. The DFAC line has been atrociously long lately with two guard units cross-training on Cropper. Notice he's got the bunk bed on his side, his gear is stuffed underneath. He also has a refrigerator and TV on his side too. That's so Saddam-swank of him!

Here's my half... wall lockers divide our 15 x 10 into two spaces. We have a window (on my side), an AC unit (on my side) and a door (on his side). It's not too bad really. We could be in tents like some dental units down range... Hoo-ah!
