Captain Judi, my clinic partner, and I are PROFIS docs at Camp Cropper. We are the newest members of the 1st Medical Brigade and the 502nd Dental Company out of Fort Hood. We also happen to share clinic space with the 14th Combat Support Hospital from of Fort Benning. That makes us a far-flung, salad bowl of medical professionals doing a job half a world from home.We eat, sleep, and work together... truly "One Team, One Fight." My unit, the 65th Med Brigade out of Korea, does not deploy soldiers to support OIF. Those of us who went are ronin (浪人), masterless samurai!
FYI: PROFIS is the Army word for "temp." The 14th CSH was the backdrop of the HBO documentary, Baghdad ER.
