Misbaha 'n Burmah...

Like the West's rosary, Islamic prayers are counted using a string of beads... misbaha مسبحة. There are 99 beads (the smaller ones have 33 beads) used to number the short repetitive utterances glorifying God in Islam. This process is called Dhikr ذکر... the 99 names of Allah. These three misbaha are gifts from patients...



We learn about the Arabic language and culture from our Iraqi interpreters... Miro has brought us some baklawa and burmah (Middle Eastern sweets) from home. His wife made this for us...

A large Iraqi community lives in the US near Dearborn and with that community comes yummy Iraqi cuisine...
